APRIL 11 - The Windermere Prep Softball Team jumped out to an early lead and held on late to defeat Southwest Florida Christian 9-8 on Saturday to win the SSAA Championship.
The Lakers took control with a five-run surge across the first two innings, highlighted by RBI efforts from Ella Goldberg, Carsha Campbell, and Vanessa Nawracaj. Goldberg led the offense with three hits, including a triple, while Nawracaj drove in a team-high five runs.
Southwest Florida Christian battled back to make it a one-run game, but Windermere Prep's pitching steadied down the stretch. Nawracaj was dominant in relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts to secure the win.
The Lakers finished with 14 hits on the day, with multiple players contributing in a balanced offensive effort.
