Athletic Training Rooms

At Windermere Preparatory School, our athletic training staff works under the supervision of Dr. George Eldayrie of Orlando Health to provide quality medical care to our student-athletes. Our athletic trainers serve as liaisons between physicians, school nurses, parents, faculty, coaches, and the strength & conditioning staff to ensure proper communication is maintained throughout a student-athlete's plan of care. The athletic training staff holds treatment hours in the athletic training room, located in the gym during the school day (as needed), and covers athletic contests during the evening hours.

"Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession."

VISION

Our athletic training staff is committed to providing the highest quality healthcare to all student-athletes. Injuries are an inevitable part of athletics; however, our athletic training staff at Windermere Preparatory School analyzes and treats both the short- and long-term health effects of interscholastic competition. We take full consideration of both the physical and mental well-being of the student-athlete in all treatment endeavors. It is our goal to return the student-athlete to a level equal to or above that of their pre-injury status. Athletic training services provided include: medical evaluations, therapeutic interventions as deemed appropriate, recovery therapies and facilitation of return-to-play programs. We will uphold the Mission of Windermere Preparatory School at all times by providing a nurturing community that engages and inspires our learners to discover their passions as they build the best versions of themselves for the global community.

SPORTGAIT - CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The Windermere Prep Athletic Trainers will follow the protocol set forth by the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) and Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) concerning the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of suspected mild traumatic brain injury. Our Athletic Trainers use SportGait which provides a premium, state-of-the-art technology to assess and monitor concussions, allowing athletic trainers and other medical professionals to be confident in the return to play decision process through robust assessments. The platform is designed to provide athletes and their families with education about the impact of concussion. For more information - click here.

WEATHER STEM - LIGHTNING AND WET BULB SYSTEM

In the event of inclement weather, the Windermere Prep Director of Athletics and Athletic Trainer have the authority to make decisions regarding the continuation of games and/or practices. The Athletic Trainer will be aware of any storms in the area and will notify the coaches to go to their designated area should a storm conflict with practice and/or games. Coaches will be notified prior to practice and/or games of the plan in case of severe weather.

If the weather becomes suspicious, the WeatherSTEM software will be the method of determining whether practice and/or games  are safe. The WeatherSTEM app will inform the Athletic Trainer when to leave the field of play and when it is safe to return to the field.

  • If lightning occurs within a 8 miles radius, teams will immediately be removed from the fields and relocated to the locker rooms or other safe designated areas.

  • Teams will be required to wait at least 30 minutes from the last lightning strike. It will be the responsibility of the Athletic Trainer to obtain weather reports prior to the start of practice and/or games. In the case of severe weather, teams will be moved to the locker rooms or other designated safe areas.
