Lakers Advance to the State Championship Game

MAY 19 - The Windermere Prep softball team defeated Episcopal School of Jacksonville, 4-0 to advance to the FHSAA Class 3A State Championship Game on Thursday at 7:00 pm. The Lakers will take on Academy of the Holy Names who defeated Westminster Christian, 11-3 in the other State Semifinal game.

Gracie Wallace threw a gem on Wednesday for the Lakers, as the right-hander threw a complete game shutout with 13 strikeouts. Meredith Workman broke open a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run inside the park homerun to give the Lakers a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, the Lakers added to their lead as Madison Workman opened the inning with a single and Sophie Shaik drove her home with a sacrifice fly.

The Lakers will now play in the program's first State Championship game Thursday, May 20 at 7:00 pm at Legends Way Ball Field in Clermont. We are calling for an ALL SCHOOL RED OUT tomorrow to show support for the team.
