Lakers Travel to Bishop McLaughlin in SSAA 1A Championship

NOVEMBER 10 - The Windermere Prep varsity football team travels to Bishop McLaughlin in the SSAA 1A Championship on Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Bishop McLaughlin Field on campus. Windermere Prep (7-3) advanced to the the championship by defeating Marco Island Academy, 28-26 in the semifinals. Bishop McLaughlin (4-7) reached the championship after beating The Geneva School, 39-19.

Game 1 Recap:
The two teams met earlier in the season with the Hurricanes defeating the Lakers, 21-10 at Lakers Field. After falling behind early, the Lakers found rhythm late in the first half as kicker Adam Rasekh converted a 44-yard field goal to make it 14–3 at the break. In the third quarter, senior running back Peyton Hollern capped a strong drive with a rushing touchdown to bring Windermere Prep within 14–10. However, Bishop McLaughlin responded with a late-quarter score that proved to be the difference. Hollern led the Lakers' offense with 45 rushing yards and a touchdown, while freshman quarterback Ty Tracey threw for 64 yards. Sophomore Koren Williams led the Lakers defense with 10 tackles.
