Lakers Advance to SSAA 1A Championship

WINDERMERE, FL (November 9, 2025) — The Windermere Prep varsity football team advanced to the SSAA 1A Championship after defeating Marco Island Academy, 28–26, on Saturday afternoon at Lakers Field.

Senior running back Peyton Hollern powered the Lakers' offense with 156 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, becoming just the fourth player in program history to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards in a season. Hollern also added 17 receiving yards, finishing with 173 total yards of offense in the semifinal victory.

Freshman quarterback Ty Tracey completed 13 of 20 passes for 114 yards, spreading the ball among several targets. Freshman Carter Pucci led the receiving corps with six catches for 48 yards, while senior Antonio Farah added three receptions for 42 yards and sophomore Adrian Delgado contributed 36 rushing yards and seven receiving yards. Senior Trevor Doggett provided a steady presence in the backfield with 64 rushing yards on 11 carries.

The Lakers' defense delivered critical stops throughout the second half to preserve the win. Sophomore Koren Williams anchored the unit with a team-high eight tackles, while senior Trevor Doggett added seven tackles, including two tackles for loss. Freshman Jay Evans and Carter Pucci each recorded interceptions, with Evans returning his for a touchdown. Senior Gabriel Greer chipped in four tackles and contributed on special teams with a 7-yard kick return.

On special teams, sophomore Chase Stinson converted three PATs, and junior Adam Rasekh added another, helping the Lakers secure the narrow two-point victory.

Windermere Prep (7–3) advances to the SSAA 1A Championship Game at Bishop McLaughlin (4–7) on Friday night at 7:00 PM. It is a rematch from earlier in the year, when the Hurricanes defeated the Lakers 21–10.

"Our guys battled from start to finish," said Head Coach James Hamilton. "Peyton led with heart and toughness, and our defense stepped up when it mattered most. This was a complete team win and a testament to our growth and resilience all season."
