Boys Basketball Advances to the FHSAA 3A Regional Semifinals

FEBRUARY 14 - The Windermere Prep boys' basketball team delivered a resilient postseason performance Saturday night, rallying from an early deficit to defeat Cardinal Mooney, 61–52, in the FHSAA Class 3A Regional Quarterfinals.

The Lakers faced early adversity, falling behind 24–6 at the end of the first quarter and trailing 36–20 at halftime. Despite the slow start, Windermere Prep responded with composure and intensity after the break, shifting momentum through disciplined defense and improved execution on the offensive end.

Windermere Prep outscored Cardinal Mooney in both the third and fourth quarters, steadily chipping away at the deficit before taking control late. Defensive pressure limited scoring opportunities, while timely baskets and strong rebounding fueled the comeback.

After closing the gap in the third quarter, the Lakers took the lead in the fourth and sealed the win with key defensive stops and poised play down the stretch.

The win sends the Lakers to the FHSAA Class 3A Regional Semifinals at The Villages Charter on Saturday, February 21.
