Girls' Basketball Advances to the FHSAA 3A Regional Semis

FEBRUARY 13 - The Windermere Prep girls' basketball team earned a road postseason victory Friday night, defeating The Villages Charter 54–42 to advance to the FHSAA Class 3A Regional Semifinals.

The Lakers set the tone early, building an 11–4 lead in the opening quarter and carrying a 20–13 advantage into halftime. Windermere Prep continued to control the game in the second half, using strong interior play and disciplined defense to maintain separation.

Windermere Prep shot 45.7% from the field, improving to 52.0% shooting in the second half. The Lakers were active on the glass, finishing with 37 total rebounds, including 10 offensive rebounds, while also recording 10 steals and five blocks on the defensive end.

Joba Oyedeji led all scorers with a game-high 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting, adding eight rebounds. Alayiah Johnson followed with 13 points, while Mikayla Evans contributed six points and consistent perimeter defense.

After The Villages Charter attempted to close the gap in the fourth quarter, the Lakers responded with timely baskets and defensive stops, closing out the win and limiting the Buffalo to 42 points.

With the victory, Windermere Prep improves to 15–10 on the season and will travel to Tampa Catholic on Friday, February 20, in the Regional Semifinals.
