MARCH 8 - The Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) honored Head Coach Brian Hoff and Sophomore Brandon Bass Jr. as recipients of the Class 3A Coach of the Year and Player of the Year awards respectively.
Coach Hoff, who achieved his 100th career win this season, earned the FACA Coach of the Year title for the fifth consecutive year. Over his six-year tenure leading the Lakers, Hoff has guided the boys' basketball team to four District Championships, two Regional Championships, and one Citrus League Championship, amassing an impressive 121-51 overall record.
Bass Jr. concluded a remarkable season, setting school records for points in a season (600), points per game (20.6), field goals made in a season (214), and free throws made in a season (151.) Additionally, Bass Jr. came close to setting another school record this season with a career-high 36 points scored in a Regional Final victory over Holy Trinity.
The Lakers wrapped up the season with a 24-8 record, earning the title of FHSAA Class 3A State Runner-Up.
