Boys' Basketball Advances to FHSAA State Championship

Defeats Providence School 55-43

MARCH 1 - The boys' basketball team advanced to the program's second FHSAA State Championship by defeating Providence School, 55-43 in the State Semifinals on Wednesday, March 1. The Lakers led 28-25 at the half and pulled away in the fourth quarter as junior Chandler Watts led the Lakers with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Sinan Huan added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 block shots and fellow freshman Brandon Bass netted 12 points as the Lakers improved to 24-7 on the season. Windermere Prep will play Riviera Prep (26-6), from Miami, as the Bulldogs defeated Tampa Catholic, 68-67 in the other state semifinal.
