Lakers Open Season with Win Over Orangewood Christian

AUGUST 28 - The Windermere Prep football team opened up their 2021 season with a 20-7 win over Orangewood Christian Saturday night at Scott Pine Community Park. The Lakers jumped on the board midway through the first quarter as Zane Fullmer connected with Jackson Bennett on an 18-yard touchdown. Oliver Cowin added the extra point to give the WPS a 7-0 lead. Following a Rams fumble, the Lakers marched down the field in six-plays as Fullmer once again found Bennett for a 31-yard touchdown to give WPS a 14-0 lead. WPS capitalized on another Orangewood Christian fumble, as the Lakers capped off a 13-play scoring drive with Fullmer scampering 11 yards into the endzone. The Lakers led the Rams 20-0 at the half. The Rams got on the scoreboard early in the third quarter as quarterback Cody Elias found Jerry Addo-Boateng for a 44-yard touchdown.
