Vincent Smith is the Lakers' Director of Lacrosse, Middel School Athletic Director and PE Teacher at Windermere Prep. Smith brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in coaching lacrosse at both the collegiate and high school levels.
Smith most recently served as the Head Coach of the Men's Lacrosse program at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado, from 2014 to 2022. During his tenure, he led the team to six conference titles and the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II National Lacrosse Tournament in 2018. As Head Coach, Smith was responsible for implementing offensive and defensive strategies, managing film sessions, and creating scouting reports. He also prioritized the academic growth and personal development of student-athletes, significantly improving the team's GPA and fostering a strong sense of community through various service initiatives.
Before his role at Colorado Mesa University, Smith held coaching positions at various institutions, including Christchurch School in Virginia, where he served as the Athletic Director, Lacrosse Program Director, and History Teacher. Smith's contributions to the Christchurch lacrosse program resulted in multiple state championships and earned him several Coach of the Year honors.
Smith's coaching experience extends beyond the collegiate and high school levels. He has worked as an Assistant Coach for the Chicago Machine in Major League Lacrosse and as an Assistant Coach/Defensive Coordinator at the University of Illinois. His expertise and leadership skills have earned him recognition and involvement in various lacrosse committees and organizations, such as the NCAA Lacrosse Championships Committee and the NCAA All-American Committee.
With his extensive background in coaching lacrosse and his passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field, Coach Smith is well-equipped to guide the Windermere Prep lacrosse program to new heights. He will bring his strategic insights, commitment to academic success, and focus on character development to enhance the overall lacrosse experience for the student-athletes at Windermere Preparatory School.
