Angela Vargas serves as the Head Coach of the Tennis Program at Windermere Prep, bringing an impressive background as both a high-level competitor and accomplished coach. Known for her leadership, player development expertise, and strong commitment to mentoring student-athletes, Coach Vargas is a dynamic addition to the Laker Athletics staff.
As a standout high school athlete, Vargas competed at the 6A level, winning the district championship all four years of her career. She continued her success at St. Mary’s University, where she earned several top honors, including Freshman of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and Tournament MVP.
After her collegiate playing career, Vargas transitioned into coaching, taking on assistant coaching roles for both the men’s and women’s tennis teams at St. Mary’s. She was involved in all facets of team operations—from recruitment and training to travel and administration—and was recognized as the South Central Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year.
Beyond the college level, Coach Vargas has taught at tennis clubs and camps throughout Texas and the Northeast, working with players of all ages and skill levels. She has also led summer youth programs, using her bilingual background and communication skills to build strong relationships with families and support the development of international student-athletes.
Coach Vargas is passionate about growing the game of tennis and guiding student-athletes through their athletic and personal journeys. Her vision and dedication make her an integral part of the Windermere Prep tennis program.
