Jonathan Griffiths, born in Swansea, Wales, brings extensive experience and an enduring passion for soccer to Windermere Preparatory School. A graduate of the University of Wales with a degree in Sport and Physical Education, Jonathan competed at the 17U–19U level for Gorseinon College in the British College League.
Jonathan joined the Windermere Prep (WPS) coaching staff in 2012 after coaching multiple teams in the United Kingdom. He immediately made an impact, helping the Lakers reach the Regional Final as an assistant coach during the 2012–13 season. In 2015, he was named the second boys’ soccer head coach in school history, marking the start of a new era for the program.
Under his leadership, the Lakers have achieved historic success. The team captured back-to-back Sunshine State Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships in 2019 and 2020, including an undefeated 2019–20 regular season that tied the school record with 17 wins and culminated in a trip to the FHSAA Regional Final. Jonathan’s efforts earned him the 2019–2020 SSAC Boys’ Soccer Coach of the Year award. Most recently, he guided the Lakers to a District Championship in the 2025–26 season, further solidifying his legacy of excellence.
Jonathan holds an NCSAA National Diploma, Goalkeeping Levels 1 and 2 certifications, and is currently pursuing his U.S. Soccer coaching licenses. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he serves as Windermere Prep’s Head of Physical Education and Lower School PE Teacher, inspiring students to develop a lifelong love for fitness and sport.
Deeply rooted in the WPS community, Jonathan is proud that his two children, Jordanna and Jesse, attend Windermere Prep, reflecting his personal commitment to the school’s mission and spirit.
