AUGUST 2 - We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Michael Brunson as the new coach for our girls' golf team. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Michael brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our program, with 10 years of teaching and over 30 years of playing golf at various competitive levels.
Michael's impressive career includes two professional wins and multiple top 5 finishes. He has competed alongside some of the top players in the world, such as Brian Davis, Chris Couch, and Chase Koepka. His extensive experience on the course is complemented by his training with renowned instructors like Rick McCord, a PGA of America top 50 instructor, and Greg Harrison, who has coached tour players including Bryson DeChambeau, Brendon Todd, and Lexi Thompson. Additionally, Michael has dedicated significant time to learning from world-renowned short game specialist James Ridyard, who works with elite players like Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari.
Michael's teaching philosophy goes beyond the basics of the golf swing. He incorporates biomechanics and advanced course management systems designed by experts such as Scott Fawcett's Decade Golf and Aimpoint. His comprehensive approach places a strong emphasis on the mental aspect of golf, helping students achieve lower scores and greater playing satisfaction.
Michael's unique approach to coaching is encapsulated in his teaching philosophy: "If you can't learn with the way I teach, then I will teach you the way you learn." This commitment to personalized instruction ensures that each player can reach their full potential.
"We are confident that Michael's extensive experience and innovative coaching methods will lead our girls' golf team to new heights" said Patrick Hollern, Director of Athletics. "Please join us in welcoming Michael Brunson to our community."
