JULY 18 - Windermere Prep is delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Johnston as the Lakers' new head coach for the girls' golf program.
With an impressive career spanning over 29 years, Chris has been a PGA of America Golf Instructor since 1994 and previously held the position of a Canadian class 'A' Golf Professional before relocating to the United States. He is also a certified fitness instructor with expertise from the Titleist Performance Institute, renowned for their focus on golf fitness.
Throughout his teaching journey, Chris has developed numerous golf training tools designed to address and overcome various swing faults, offering training exercises and drills as remedies for struggling golfers.
Prior to joining the Orlando area in November 2021, Chris taught in the New Jersey PGA section, where he was honored with the 2018 New Jersey PGA Teacher of the Year award and was nominated for the New Jersey PGA Youth Development Award in 2020.
Between 2015 and 2019, Chris contributed eleven articles to Golf Tips magazine, and his work was featured in the December 2016 issue of PGA Magazine. Some of his articles can still be accessed on Golf Tips magazine's website.
During the height of the Covid pandemic, Chris undertook a personal initiative to create 40 consecutive days of "CREATIVE" Instagram Golf Tip videos, titled "A Tip a Day to Get us to May." This project aimed to provide valuable insights and tips for golfers until the reopening of golf activities in New Jersey in May.
"We are excited to welcome Chris Johnston as the head coach for the girls' golf program, said Patrick Hollern, Director of Athletics. We look forward to his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to helping student-athletes excel both on and off the golf course."
