Alex Dehner graduated from Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee, Florida in 2013. He received his bachelor’s degree in sustainable studies and a minor in zoology from the University of Florida in 2017. While at the University of Florida, Alex was an Academic All-American (2013-2014, 2014-2015) and earned SEC Honor Roll (2013-2014, 2014-2015). After retiring from swimming, he continued his passion and pursued his dream career in coaching, while finishing his degree.
In 2017, Alex was named the head swimming and diving coach at WPS. This past season, Alex led the girls’ swimming team to the program’s first District and Regional Championship.
Prior to taking over the WPS swimming and diving team, Alex served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach University of Florida, Head Age Group Coach for USA Swimming Gold Medal Club and Senior Assistant Coach.
Alex currently serves as the Director of the Lakers Aquatic Club in addition to his role as the head swimming and diving coach. Alex is a ASCA Level IV, Certified Weightlifting and Sports Performance Coach and Certified RedCross Water Safety Instructor. Alex and his wife, Anna-Liisa, reside in Orlando with their twins.
